June 29th 2012: Sticker Residue /Goo Remover

How do you remove the sticker residue/goo from glass jars, containers, or bottles?

I now know the answer!!! I wish that I could say this was my discovery, but nope.
Yet again, I have burnt another candle down but this time wanted to re-use the jar because it had a unique shape. Of course there was a huge sticker on it that needed to be removed, crap!
Here’s what I tried:
*freezing then peeling off sticker – nope
*soaking in warm soapy water – nope
*rubbing alcohol – nope (I think this only made the sticker residue/goo stronger)
***After these failed attempts I read up and found a ‘list’ of like 15 household items. On this list were many suggestions that I thought were just ridiculous: kerosene, perfume, pvc pipe cleaner, eucalyptus oil (because everyone has this just laying around) What the what!?! – NO – I just want an easy goo remover. Then looking over other various lists and ideas, I saw peanut butter, hmmm…

    Picture 1:
This is my cool jar with sticker residue/goo covering about 2 x 3 inches.
    Picture 2:
I spread the peanut butter on the jar.
Then let it sit for 20 minutes.
*The original instructions said 10, but I got busy and forgot.
    Picture 3:
I used an old sponge to wipe off the peanut butter while slowly letting warm water run over it.
The was a little scrubbing involved – minimal effort.
*There was a thicker amount of residue/goo at the top, so I just did a ‘second coat’ and scrubbed it over again.
    End Result:
My glass jar is now clean from sticker residue and I can display it cleanly and proudly however I please!
