Fresh Pineapple is very common in our house -at snack time, a fresh fruit side, and dessert. We usually go through a pineapple a week and every time it’s a hit.
But how do you know it’s ripe and ready to be cut?
1. Your pineapple should be a beautiful golden yellow color all around, even with a little pink on it.
2. Press gently and it should be firm -not spongy.
3. My favorite – Smell it! When you can actually smell the sweet pineapple it is time to cut.
*If your pineapple is green -just let it sit out on your counter-top and rotate it through out the day so it can get some sunlight to it.
*If your pineapple smells like vinegar -do not eat it just pitch it out.
*If your pineapple is brown/bronze color or the leaves are browning and falling off -it’s also gone bad and should be pitched.
